Fintech has been all the rage within the financial market, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. If you found a viable Fintech company, and were lucky enough to get a board seat, you were primarily concerned about the addressable market, the financials, and the team that would execute. Anything remotely technical had nothing to do with you, it would have fallen on the CTO's shoulders... Until now that is!
In spite of the Office of the Currency Comptroller's (OCC) Federal level oversight of Fintechs, DFS Superintendent Maria T. Vullo stated that the state should oversee Fintechs, and included them as covered entities in the regulation which was effective on March 1st, 2017.
