This hands-on introductory course will introduce the fundamentals of 3D-modeling in Rhino on the MAC platform. Students will learn how to build 3D models and prototypes with the NURBS-based modeling tools in Rhino using essential tools and techniques such as curves, surfaces, and solids. The course will cover strategies for drawing curves and modeling 3D objects, editing geometry, and rendering and exporting designs. Topics Covered: Understanding 3D terminology Comparing Bzier curves, B-splines, and NURBS objects Navigating the viewport Manipulating objects with commands Creating curves, surfaces, and solids Performing basic transformations Making solids with primitives Extruding curves Snapping to objects and planes Trimming, splitting, rotating, and copying objects Working with NURBS and seams Preparing a 3D Model for 3D Printing Notes: Students work on their own MAC laptop. Please have the latest version of Rhino for MAC already installed and tested on your laptop prior to arriving for class. All students must bring their own mouse with a right click enabled.
