This lecture will cover what it takes to start a small business. Topics include: choosing your business structure, registering a new business, permits and licenses, business insurance, as well as copyrights, trademarks and patents. 6/13 - Business Plan Writing - A business plan is an essential roadmap for business success. This living document generally  projects 3-5 years ahead and outlines the route a company intends to take to grow revenues. Learn how to create a business plan that stands out from the crowd. 6/20 - Marketing Strategies and Building a Blog for Your Business - Learn about the essentials of a marketing plan, high impact strategies, social media marketing, and how to measure performance. Also, learn how to build a blog to establish your reputation and promote your business. 6/27 - Selling to the Government and Global Market - The federal government buys nearly $100 billion worth of goods and services from small businesses each year. Government contracts can offer significant opportunities for small businesses, but selling to the government requires a very different approach than selling to the commercial sector.
