TechHub's excited to collaborate with Upright for an evening workshop geared towards any founders who's just getting started. If you have an amazing idea and are in need of guidance when it comes to laying the foundation for your startup, this is for you. We just ask that you have a pitch deck or executive summary prepared. Upright will introduce their methodology for laying the foundation of a startup to a group of ambitious people who are confident that their concept will fix a pain point and change the world for the better.

Format:

6:30: Arrival, networking, food and drinks.

7:00: Idea (Concept): Giving your concept some tangibility Deck, one-pager Revenue model Legal formation Bank account Investment strategy 18-month runway

7:15: Test (Prototype): Prototype with minimal resources and test on users. Address outreach strategies to get these users. Feature set UI/UX/Wireframe User testing

7:30: Nurture (Launch): Identify feature set of your product, build MVP and introduce to a manageable target market. Software development Fundraising support User acquisition

Danielle Gaglioti / Product Lead & Project Manager

Danielle has worked in the startup space for the past seven years, consulting for various social enterprises and early-stage startups. She founded Akimbo, a recruiting platform focused on elevating diversity hiring efforts, which she launched in NYC and San Francisco. With a background in UX design and entrepreneurship, Danielle is experienced in bringing products from wireframe to market, while keeping operations lean and effective. At Upright NYC, Danielle is responsible for building product roadmaps, communicating client vision to developers, as well as leading the charge for prototyping and UX sprints. When not talking startups, you can find her at a local taqueria.

Emma Gaedeke / Content Strategy & Marketing

Emma has over six years of experience in content strategy and communications. She is experienced in developing high-quality content campaigns to attract users and build brand recognition. As a lead content strategist at the ticket startup TicketIQ, she helped drive a 52% increase in blog traffic over a 6-month period, and provided copy for several ad campaigns that aired on the music programming network, Music Choice. She has contributed her writing to Forbes, HuffPost, Billboard, and Substream Magazine. At Upright NYC, Emma leads content strategy for client partners, specializing in pitch decks and executive summaries. In her free time, Emma focuses on creative writing and is passionate about music and culture.

Jordan Pasternak / Business Strategy & Development

Jordan has over four years of business development and consulting experience in FinTech and startups. Engagements include being part of the founding team at Althub, a platform for data-driven investors to connect with alternative data providers, and DarcMatter, an alternative investment marketplace. Previously, he spent seven years in financial operations at a leading movie studio in New York City. At Upright NYC, Jordan leads business development efforts and works with clients to identify market trends paired with the most effective go-to-market growth strategies. He earned his MBA in finance at Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business and enjoys spending time outdoors with his dog Rocco.

Paul Munguia / Revenue Modeling & User Acquisition

Paul has 10 years of experience analyzing and advising the operations and growth of businesses through the lenses of commercial lending and early-stage startup consulting. He is the founder of Currencie, a Financial Technology platform for first-time borrowers. He also organized the content and user acquisition strategies for the launch of a payment fraud app in the FinTech space. Since leaving the corporate world in 2016, Paul has provided consulting for early-stage startups looking to raise funds and build scalable products. At Upright NYC, Paul works with the product team to ensure all features are viable from a cost perspective while optimizing available revenue streams. He studied finance at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
