Key Account Manager - Clinical/Health Care Expertise




The Senior Account Management Professional is responsible for growing membership within existing accounts and for directly managing business relationships with client accounts. The Senior Account Management Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

We have an opportunity to work with a variety of local organizations that interact with members in a new and innovative way to deliver a superior integrated health experience. In particular we will focus on the role of behavioral health and social determinate as drivers of overall health outcomes and seek innovative ways to improve member experiences through superior integration with these services.

Location note: this role is to be located withing a 60-mile distance from Charleston, SC. Humana will not be relocating candidates to this area for this position.

Position Summary

As a Key Account Manager you will expand and develop the scope of our business through development and management of relationships with large, complex, highly visible and strategically important organizations that impact the health of the members we serve. you will establish and build strong account relationships with superior service, that allow for expansion of Edge local market influence and reach, thus enabling a more integrated and predictable member experience.

You are the unified point of contact for key accounts, directly accountable for a deep knowledge and understanding of your accounts' needs and capabilities. You will be accountable for developing specific Key Account plans that clearly reflect clients' long term goals. You will be expected to gather input from a variety of internal stakeholders as business plans are being developed to ensure alignment and utilization of available resources. You are responsible for the execution of that plan and management of accounts to established KPIs.

Accounts for this role will focus on behavioral health providers and community based organizations with support for large medical groups in partnership with other internal Humana teams. It will be necessary to network with key contacts both in the local community as well as internally at the Edge and Humana. You will be expected to coordinate on new assignments and activities with a variety of stakeholder groups.

In this role, you will gain wide-ranging experience in healthcare innovation and delivery and will be expected to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues and present solutions in create and effective ways. Success in this role will be distinguished by the ability to build stakeholder consensus and develop strategic and operational alignment and meet goals. You will be expected to expand your knowledge in breadth and/or depth of Edge capabilities so you can articulate their advancement to key accounts and resolve account questions and concerns. As a Key Account Manager you will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

You at expected to use strong presentation and communication skills. You will need to continuously build knowledge of current local market trends, competitive information, and industry/technical knowledge in order to share with other Edge colleagues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience working in account management preferred
  • 2+ years experience working in health care
  • Experience working in a health plan and knowledge of Medical Advantage products
  • Ability to grow and build new customer relationships through effective identification of opportunities and the creation and implementation of solutions
  • Superior oral and written communication skills including making impactful presentations to a variety of different audiences and stakeholders
  • Proven leadership abilities

  • Agile and flexible work style
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of relevant or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of technical and local market issues/factors
  • Business, financial, and clinical knowledge
