Web Manager



Summary of Position:
We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented and personable web developer to work on the Communications Team at Transportation Alternatives on a series of exciting development projects. The Web Manager uses front-end and back-end web development skills (with core proficiencies in Drupal, WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript), along with project management and people skills, to build new websites and maintain and improve existing apps and web properties. The Web Manager is the champion of best practices and enforces and improves those practices over time, in addition to having an eye on innovative solutions, rising technology trends and responsive and adaptive web design.

The ideal candidate for this position has a love of learning and the desire to explore new languages, content management systems, and technologies. This position is integral to effectively communicating TransAlt's digital presence and to exponentially growing the voice of our advocates to make our streets better for every New Yorker.

Maintain, update, add functionality to, and build new Drupal and WordPress-based websites
Research and implement innovative web development solutions and recommend and evaluate web development opportunities
Manage and maintain the TransAlt app
Establish, implement and enforce web development standards and best practices
Empower TransAlt staff to create and update web assets themselves by moving web properties to user-friendly systems, documenting procedures and providing support
Provide TransAlt staff with Google Analytics data and reports to help assess online campaign effectiveness
Streamline the connectivity between TransAlt's in-house web properties and third-party systems such as Pardot and Classy
Work with Advocacy team to create digital solutions
Strategize for the long-term and create realistic work plans for multiple projects in the short, medium and long-term; communicate project status and roadblocks to stakeholders and clearly explain concepts to non-technical staff

Qualifications and Required Experience:
Excellent skills in building websites in Drupal and WordPress with HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript. Experience building sites for cross-browser and cross-device compliance
Experience in writing reusable HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Experience translating designs and wireframes into websites
A solid understanding of Drupal architecture and administration, including theming, basic module development, common modules, and Composer
A broad understanding of internet technologies (e.g. HTTP, DNS, browsers, servers, REST APIs, Apache and NGINX web servers)
Demonstrated knowledge of user experience and user interface design best practices
Experience using automated website testing tools and developing for site performance
Experience using Chrome developer tools
Demonstrated experience in the use of development / QA environments and other tools for testing websites
Strong skills in using Git/GitHub for version control, and other related web development best practices
Experience in PHP, React, MySQL, DNS. Unix/Linux command line
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, specifically in a not for profit work environment, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
Experience in requirements gathering and project management
Experience with Google Analytics and SEO best practices
Experience with social media widgets and APIs (specifically for Facebook and Twitter)

Desired but not required:
Experience with Trello or other collaboration/project management tools, estimating the amount of time required to complete a development task
Experience with using Git and Git-based workflows, experience using React and/or React Native, and Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with CRM tools such as Saleforce
Knowledge of best practices in cyber security

Salary: 60's
