The New York Toy Fair is the moment in the year where the toy and games industry comes together to celebrate and show off what will be coming to shelves later in the year. It's also a really good time to spot some brilliant new tech toys and play trend for children.
Before the show started I spoke with Adrienne Appell senior director, strategic communications for Toy Association who put on the Toy Fair. "Toy Fair is really where the entire industry comes together; buyers, licensors, entertainment, innovators. We have an area for inventors. Licensed toys always tend to do well, and with blockbuster properties coming this year we are excited to see not only the toys but how that will affect growth."
I asked her about the smaller companies and start-ups and their place at Toy Fair. "We have an area called launchpad for first-time exhibitors. This can be the first time to show their product in such a large venue. It's always a great place to browse and see what's new and meet with people who are very passionate."
