Fuzzy, a house-call veterinarian startup, opens in NYC

Towing a dog or wrangling a cat to the vet can be a hassle. That's especially the case in New York City, where public transportation is far from pet friendly. Good luck hailing a cab if your canine companion is a Great Dane or an English mastiff. One entrepreneur from San Francisco has a solution. Zubin Bhettay is launching Fuzzy, a startup that dispatches animal doctors right to your door.

As of Thursday (thanks to $4.5 million in venture capital backing), the service is available in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The goal is to bring a modern-day health-care service for pets to a new generation of veterinarians and pet parents, Bhettay told me.
