COMPLIANCE WITH NEW FASB LEASE STANDARDS
New Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) financial reporting standards come into effect at the end of 2018 for public companies and at the end of 2019 for private companies. These new regulations require businesses to recognize assets and liabilities on a balance sheet for leases greater than 12 months in the amount of the full term value of the lease. This change, which will apply to both financial and operating leases, could add millions of dollars in assets and liabilities to businesses’ balance sheets that were previously not recorded.
