Investors have been pouring money into a bevy of startups that promise to help customers get a good night of sleep, whether they make and sell mattresses and sheets, like Casper or Boll & Branch, respectively, or take a high-tech approach with apps and hardware.
In the latest such deal, New York City startup Eight Sleep Inc. has raised $6 million in seed funding to make smart sleep trackers in the form of mattress covers.
The low-voltage Eight mattress covers are woven through with sensors that track different factors like a person’s room and bed temperature, noise or light levels, as well as the individual’s movement, pulse or breathing rate.
