Quarterly Events Preview Q2 2016: April Spotlight Event

TechDay | April 21 | Pier 94 711 12th Avenue, NYC

Recently, Digital.NYC’s editor, Marcos Dinnerstein, caught up with Alec Hartman, CEO of TechDay to get a picture of what people can expect from TechDay this year.

Digital.NYC: Please introduce yourself and your title.

Hello. I'm Alec Hartman, CEO and founder of TechDay

Digital.NYC: How many attendees do you generally receive? Where do they come from? What sectors?

A LOT... And we're growing rapidly every year. In 2015 we had over 15,000 registered attendees - in 2016 we're expecting 30,000.

Digital.NYC: What can attendees walk away with or how will this event change the conversation around tech?

For our exhibitors we focus on bringing investors, press, potential users and talent together all in one place. Virtually every conversation our startups have can move their company forward.

For attendees, this is a hugely valuable opportunity to talk directly with the creators and makers building our technological futures. As an attendee you can literally provide input to products that will transform the world.

Digital.NYC: What is the panel or speaker you are most excited about and why?

We don't exactly have panels or speakers - we don't want to take the focus off of the startups. However, this year we are adding live demos. Startups will have the opportunity to spend 3 minutes demo'ing what their working on to the world. I'm truly excited to see what these companies come up with.

Digital.NYC: What sets this conference apart from other tech conferences?

TechDay focuses on highlighting entrepreneurs - we don't have hundreds of big name speakers and we don't cater to the elite technologist willing to pay $5,000 for a ticket to an industry event. We're the event that directly connects companies with the resources they need to grow.

Digital.NYC: What will set this year’s event apart from previous years?

In 2016 we'll be nearly doubling in size - we'll host over 550 startups, 30k attendees, investors representing over $24b in capital under management, and we've moved to a new venue which is twice the size! It'll be a banner year for tech in NYC.

Digital.NYC: Are there any new components or features that attendees should look forward to this year?

This year you'll be able to see our startups demo their products on our two stages. It's a new component to the event that really puts our companies in the spotlight.
