IKONA is reinventing education in healthcare — one experience at a time. We help kidney care providers improve patient education through on-demand, interactive learning experiences. Our virtual reality learning platform has been shown to increase knowledge, improve confidence and decision making, and is a preferred learning medium for 80% of users compared to traditional learning methods.

Tim Fitzpatrick

Tim Fitzpatrick is a US Navy veteran and VA patient who joined IKONA from Wall Street, where he served as an institutional equities trader covering over 500 companies in the Technology, Media & Telecom sectors. Tim recognized how emerging applications of technologies like machine learning, VR & AR could be applied to create innovative solutions in every industry and knows IKONA will change the way patients and practitioners experience healthcare.

Kimon Bekelis

Dr. Kimon Bekelis is a neurosurgeon and Assistant Professor at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He is a national leader in health policy and big data analytics. He has developed two software applications on risk prediction and patient satisfaction, and has received funding support from the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Hitchcock Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.

George Kakoulides, MD

Dr. George Kakoulides is a neurosurgeon and filmmaker. He was one of the pioneers in creating documentaries harnessing the power of virtual reality. While pursuing a Master’s Degree at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Dr. Kakoulides directed and produced multiple education and training videos including Robyn and Luis for the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation.

Kel O'Neill

Kel co-created PBS/POV Digital's Emmy-nominated, Webby-honored interactive documentary Empire and was the winner of the inaugural Tim Hetherington Visionary Award for the VR documentary The Ark. He was awarded the 2017 Eisenhower Fellowship, served as Senior Fellow at The Economist Media Lab and was the writer and Creative Lead on the magazine's virtual reality documentary Oceans VR Net Positive (New York Film Festival 2016)

A learning scientist and former University Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience. Todd’s passion is to apply his 25 years of scientific and neuroscientific expertise, gained by managing a large human learning and performance laboratory, to help build training solutions that effectively engage the brain.

Hillary Bekelis

A Critical Care Nurse Practitioner who oversees our clinical content development. Her experiences supervising Advanced Practice Providers and the Neuro-ICU in a large hospital setting have been invaluable in enabling us to understand and serve the needs of patients and front line staff in all settings.
