Women Startup Challenge NYC at Microsoft, November 9th

Details

United States

Overview

Apply to the Women Startup Challenge in partnership with Craig Newmark of craigslist and craigconnects. We’re showcasing and funding innovative, women-led startups and disruptive ventures that are solving problems for people, businesses, and the planet. The 10 best women-led startup applicants from the NE region (New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island) will be selected to pitch their startup on stage in front of investors ranging from Joanne Wilson to Susan Lyne of BBG Ventures and a live audience. Prizes include $25,000 in cash, startup friendly services, and profiles by Craig Newmark on Huffington Post, craigconnects, Medium, and LinkedIn where Craig is an influencer. Finalists will also join a group of investors and tech experts on November 10th for the Women Startup Speed Dating event at AOL where founders will have one-on-one access to investors and tech experts and get an opportunity to share their startup pitches and ideas. Prizes subject to change.

BuzzFeed and the New York Observer say that through the Women Startup Challenge, Women Who Tech is one of the few organizations disrupting a culture and economy that has made it exceedingly difficult for women entrepreneurs to access capital. Only 7% of all investor money goes to women-led startups. The Women Startup Challenge wants to crush this dismal stat by funding women-led startups.
